The Fundacion Metropoli is an important part of my life. I have spent a number of years working and thinking with them. this included living in Madrid which was an exciting experience. I am one of their senior advisers, have been made the editor and have become a member of their international advisory council. The Fundacion Metropoli has an original approach to their work which consists of combining research with innovation and incubation. All this can be examined in detail in the publication which I have written and edited: Fundacion Metropoli, Landscape Intelligence, Visions and Projects of the Fundacion Metropoli. Another major work I have been writing and editing is Building the European Diagonal, a meta scale spatial perspective for the European South as a counterpart to the EU Pentagon in the North West. The mayors of Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan and Casablanca were actively involved in the creation of this perspective which is a unique approach in Europe. The Fundacion Metropoli published the book in 2008 and various projects are expected to follow from this comprehensive long term vision.
